This workshop in Ouled Merzoug, a village in central Morocco, is organised by the postgraduate program Building Beyond Borders (BBB) of the Faculty of Architecture and Arts at Hasselt University, in collaboration with BC Studies.

BBB and BC have established long-term relations with the community, through previous projects realised in cooperation with local craftsmen and associations. The workshop aims to disseminate vernacular knowledge on ecological and bioclimatic construction, focusing on the use of natural materials such as raw earth. It further seeks to valorise local expertise and to critically reflect on contemporary construction practices. The participants are hosted by the local women’s association in their building, completed as part of an earlier BBB program.
