Within the framework of the UNESCO Chair in Earthen Architecture, Constructive Cultures and Sustainable Development, the french institute Les Grands Ateliers organized the “Earth, Women and Know-how” formation. This is a professional training program for engineers, architects and builders, taught and supervised by four master craftswomen and renderers: Sylvie Wheeler, Irmela Fromme, Isabella Breda, and Anca Nicolaescu. The program ran from May to November 2023.
This training developed expertise in creating recipes for plasters and paints using natural and waste resources such as clay, sands, fibers, and mineral and organic pigments, and tested these recipes to prepare them for practical implementation on construction site.
